Her siblings include Clara, Chloe Margaret, John William, Margaret, May, Magdelena, Elbin, and George Koontz. Chloe her sister was murdered by John Morgan in November 1897.

Sadly, Mary died of consumption on September 26, 1882. Her husband Rev. Nicholas Lee Casto joined her on June 25, 1922. They are buried together with their baby. They are buried in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia.
