Ann (Norton) Gwynn
Ann died in San Jose, CA, on December 3, 2014, at the age of 87 after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank. She is also survived by her children. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.
She was pre-deceased by her daughters Terry, Eileen, Laura and Lorraine, her sister, Kathleen Stewart, and her parents, Kathleen and Matthew Norton.
Ann was born and raised in New York, graduating from Hunter College/City University of New York, Phi Beta Kappa. She taught high school, then met a man whose Catholicism matched her own: Frank Gwynn, a graduate of Notre Dame and former seminarian. They married in 1953. From then on, her life was a series of new residences throughout the US as his career and interests caused moves every few years. In each new town, there was one absolute: Find a good Catholic parish and school. Her faith defined her and kept her strong through even the most trying times.
When not engaged in supporting the Church, she could be found reading English mysteries or literature, watching PBS dramas, drinking tea, or enjoying calls and visits with family.
The Funeral Mass is Monday, 12/8, 11:30 AM, Holy Family Parish, San Jose, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos.
