Florence Bass Rice, 96, of Greer, South Carolina, widow of James Spencer Rice, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
Florence was born April 9, 1918 in Greer, South Carolina, daughter of the late Manon Benjamin Bass and Cynthia Catherine Reynolds Bass. She was employed by J.P. Stevens as a weaver and was a member of Victor Baptist Church, Greer, SC.
She is survived by her son, Michael E. Rice (Beth) of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren, Toni Bailey (Kevin), Christa Pittman (Scott), John Adams (Teresa), Susan Forbes (Shawn), Betsy Polk (Mike), Leisa Shea, and Michael J. Rice; and five great-grandchildren, Austin Forbes, Georgia Forbes, Spencer Pittman, Delaney Pittman and Jane Polk.
She was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Rice; a daughter, Marlain Smothers; and a grandchild, Howard Rice.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Wood Mortuary, 300 W. Poinsett Street, Greer, SC at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Greer, SC.
