Mattie Florence

Mrs. Mattie May Florence 89, of the Leavenworth county Home, died Sunday afternoon at Cushing Memorial Hospital. She had been at Cushing Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 18, 1882, at Grayson County, VA., a daughter of Wiley A. and Mary M. Perry. Her family moved to Wyandotte County when she was an infant and later moved to Leavenworth county. She attended the Nine Mile and Wallula Schools and was married Feb. 6, 1907, to William R. Florence. They had farmed in the Fairmount Township for many years. Mr. Florence died Aug. 27, 1970.
Mrs. Florence was a member of the Wallula Christian Church and the Ladies Aid Society at the church.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. LaVera Kemler and Mrs. May Stiglmire, both of Basehor; two sons, Charles Florence, RR 3, and George Florence, Basehor; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Bullard, 809 shoemaker, and Mrs. Claire Waddell, Berkeley, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
The body is at the chapel.
