Charles H. Cessna, 88, of Shelocta RD1, (South Bend Township), died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 in Mary Lane Hospital, Ware, Mass.
He was born Oct. 2, 1914 in Plumcreek Township to Frank and Edna Pearl (Kough) Cessna.
Mr. Cessna was a self-employed home builder and carpenter and also worked for the former Louden Industries. He also delivered the Leader Times newspaper.
An Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine L. (Kepple) Cessna, whom he married June 24, 1941; three sons, Richard H. Cessna and Victor A. Cessna, both of Shelocta RD1 and Thomas E. Cessna of Wales, Ma.; two daughters, Mrs. Larry W. (Ruby L.) Bullion and Mrs. Donald E. (Sandra E.) Meyer, both of Shelocta RD1; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Ward Cessna of Elyria, Ohio; and four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Mildred) Albanese and June Carr, both of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Arvil (Mary) Rose of Virginia and Clarissa Meyer of Shelocta RD1.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Keith Cessna, Ken Cessna, Virge Cessna, Merrill Cessna and Clyde Cessna; and two sisters, Rosie Elgin and Velma Claypoole.
CESSNA: Friends of Charles H. Cessna, 88, of Shelocta RD1, (South Bend Township), who died Oct. 31, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Clark Chapel, 238 Main St., Elderton. Additional visitation will be from 10 until funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Rea officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
