Myrtle A. Dodd, age 84 passed away on December 30, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lebanon Virginia on July 12, 1930 to the late George and Sarah Salyers. She was the widow of the late Wilber Dodd. Myrtle was a strong, independent, willful, loving and kind person. She loved working in her yard, planting flowers and traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Thelma Flounders; her grandchildren Jean (Richard) Bird and Joel Flounders; her great grandchildren Tymothy, Brittany and Michael.
Interment at Rose Hill Memory Gardens.

Myrtle Anne Salyers was the daughter of George Thomas and Sarah Kathryn Austin Salyers. Born in Russell County, Virginia, she was one of eleven children. Her sister Effie Mae Salyers Warren, 89, of Bland, Virginia survives her.

Myrtle married first, Tom Muncy, and from this union, they had one child, Thelma Jean. She married second Richard "Dick" Cookson, and lastly, Wilber Dodd.

Myrtle's siblings who predeceased her were: Martha Lucinda Salyers Boothe, John William Salyers, Bessie Frances Salyers Boothe, Ibbie Victoria Salyers Sims Hicks, Bill Thomas Salyers, Charlie Dolphus Salyers, Sr., Henry Ford Salyers, Margaret Ellen Salyers and Robert Nathan Salyers.

Myrtle comes from a hardy ancestry line of Salyers and Austin's who knew how to survive. They knew how to take lemons and make lemonade where ever they roamed and whatever they did.
