Will of Dabney Harris
In the name of God Amen. I Dabney Harris of Washington County & State of Virginia farmer being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God & calling into mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last will & testament, that is to say, principally & first of all I give and recommend my Soul to the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent manner at the discretion of my Executor. Nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise & dispose of the same in the following manner & form. First & all I constitute make & ordain Christopher my dearly beloved son the sole Executor of this my last will and testament all & singular my lands messuages and tenements by him freely to be possessed & enjoyed that the condition that he the said Christopher maintain & take good care of me & my wife Mary during both our lives, and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legacies bequeaths & executors by me in any wise before named willed & bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this & on other to be my last will & testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 24th January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten.
