Clarence C. Abner, 89, died May 1 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Kentucky before moving to Savannah in 1982. He retired after 43 years as a coal miner from Peabody Coal Co. in Beaver Dam, Ky. and was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Halie S. Abner of Savannah; a daughter, Elva Smith of Savannah; three sons, Marion L. Abner of Beechmont, Ky., George H. Abner of Caryville, Tenn. and Virgil E. Abner of Palm Bay, Fla.; a brother, Ernest Abner of Scottsburg, Ind.; two sisters, Jewel Wilson of Miamisburg, Ohio and Mary Ann Peffley of West Carrollton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
