Genevieve was the daughter of an immigrant father, Edward Pearson from Sweden, and Esther Anne (Cushing, Pearson) Gilbert of Alaska. Genevieve took pride in raising her children and served as a postmistress in the Unga postoffice and was president of the Unga Women's Club. She was a shareholder of the Aleut Corporation and the Unga Corporation. Her cheerful personality and youthful sprit drew many; there was always laughter in her company. She loved life and always declared her enthusiasm for longevity. In her last years she loved to play Bingo, work crossword puzzles, watch sports on TV, read and visit with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Olaf Melseth; her second husband, Andrew Foster; daughters, Bernice (Melseth) Shuravloff-Brandal, Janice (Foster) Shuravloff and her infant son, Andrew Foster, Jr. She is survived by five daughters, three sons and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

"I like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done", is how Genevieve is remembered by her family. She is interred at the Sand Point Cemetery, Sand Point, Popof Island, Shumagin Islands Alaska.
