"Annotated Obituary" from Cherokee Advance (Canton, Georgia) – September 16, 1887

Tribute of Respect: Eli C. Hardin was born at Chester, S.C. August 7, 1818, married in 1855 and removed to Cherokee County and settled at Woodstock. He served with distinction all during the late war and at its close was called to serve this County in the Legislative Assembly of the State, never proving himself unworthy of a trust bestowed. About one year ago they moved to Atlanta with their son. J.B. Hardin, with whom they lived until brother Hardin died the 12th of April, 1887. Written by A.B. Vaughn Jr. (Page 3 Col 3)

Capt. E. C. Hardin's remains were brought from Atlanta to Woodstock for interment last Wednesday, and were interred Thurs. a (sic) at 10 o'clock A. M. Capt. Hardin was an old, honored and respected citizen of this county, and its representative for one or more terms in the Georgia Legislature. His death will be a surprise to many.
