The son of Eli Cornwall Hardin & Sarah Jane Hill, he married Lucinda Desdimones "Desdie" Dobbs on December 12, 1872 in Cherokee County, Georgia and they had nine children together: Sally (b-1875), Jesse J. (b-1878), Joseph Clifford (b-1880), Dollie Clemons (b-1182 m-Huey), Loula (b-1882), Ben William "Willie" (b-1885), Beulah (b-1888 m-White), Winnie Inez (m-1890 m-Moore) and Harry Luther (b-1894). He was a farmer and veteran of the Civil War enlisting from Cherokee County, GA.

W.C. Hardin, 73 years old, died Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at a private hospital. He is survived by his wife, who lives at 529 South Moreland Avenue; four sons, Jesse, J.C., B.W., and L.H. Hardin; four daughters, Mrs. L.R. Sargent, Mrs. J.A. Huey, Mrs. A.L. White, Mrs. D.P. Moore; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Delaney, and one brother, J.B. Hardin. The body was removed to the chapel of Harry G. Poole.

Hardin this (Thursday) morning, January 9, 1919, at 11 a.m., from the residence, 529 South Moreland Avenue. The pallbearers will please meet at the residence: Dr. Wilson, Pat Stewart, Howard Carroll, Charlie Ragsdale, Whit Marbut, Walter White.
