Theresa Bernarda Rivera was the daughter of Maria Antonia Chonico and Charles Rivera. Wife of Leon Senac and mother of his children Angelo Simon, Antoinette Dora, Michael Leon, and Maria Loretta. Also wife to John M Cloutman and mother to his son, Nathaniel.

There was an odd chapter in Theresa's life that must have been difficult to manage. Fairly early in their marriage, she and her husband, Leon Senac, travelled to Texas for better financial prospects. The couple had their first child in Texas, a boy they named Angelo, but it seems when Theresa had her second child she returned to New Orleans. Leon either stayed in Texas or returned there after the birth of their daughter, Dora. A newspaper article once stated that after about a year from the couple parting, Leon stopped communication and was not heard from again. More than five years would pass, both the Senac and Rivera families believed Leon to be dead, Theresa remarried to a Mr John Cloutman. A year later the couple had a son, Nathaniel. Then suddenly it was discovered that Leon was still alive and had started another family in Texas. Around 1886, Leon left his family in Texas and returned to New Orleans. The details are not known, yet it is apparent that Mr Cloutman left the picture. Theresa kept baby Nathan and her husband, Leon Senac, seems to have adopted little Nathan, as contemporaneous records show a reunited Theresa and Leon Senac and a Nathaniel Senac as the middle child of five Senac children.
