Funeral services for George Edward Comer, 73, were held at Shackleford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tenn. with burial in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Eastview, Tenn.

He was born Feb. 22, 1941, in McNairy County, Tenn. to the late Elick Alexander and Hazel Ruth Rickman Comer. Mr. Comer died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, in Corinth, MS.

He was a construction worker and had previously worked at Coca-Cola in Corinth, MS. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 53 years, Mardell Comer of Guys, Tenn.; two sons, Jerry Comer (Deanna) of Stantonville, Tenn. and Gary (Popeye) Comer of Guys, Tenn; two daughters, Sherry Vincent (James) of Corinth and Cheryl ‘Molly’ Comer (Norman) Faulkner of Selmer, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Samantha Bennett (Brandon), Cody Comer (Brooke), Anthony Comer, Stefanie Comer (Nic Lott), Tyler Wilmeth, Braxton Comer, Spencer Comer, Kyle Comer, and Brooke Vincent; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Maggie Webb of Mich., Jo Rickman of Selmer, Tenn., Linda Hurley of Ramer, Tenn. and Sue Pickens of Stantonville, Tenn.; three brothers, Dubert Comer of Adamsville, Tenn., Bill Comer of Michie, Tenn. and Harold Comer of Adamsville, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Bishop, Louise Bishop, Brenda Kay Comer and Delores Ann Comer; four brothers, Ray Comer, Hubert Comer, Lee Comer and Charles R. Comer.
