Donald Hutchison Segrest, 76, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his home. Mr. Segrest is survived by his wife Jean Meredith Segrest; his children Cameron Mills, Rebecca (Vernon) Davis, Judith Wooten, Alex Segrest, Joanna (Roland) Hundley, Carolyn Broward Segrest and Hutch (Monica) Segrest; his brother Steve (Dianne) Segrest; 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Neill and Florida Douglass Broward Segrest; his brothers Henry Neill Segrest, Jr., Broward Segrest and Allan Segrest; and by his sister-in-law Beth Segrest. He was named Hutchison after his maternal great grandmother Margaret Anne Hutchison Douglass. He graduated from Tuskegee High School in 1955. He graduated from Presbyterian College in South Carolina where he played varsity baseball and football and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was scouted by professional baseball teams even while in high school but his parents priority was college rather than looking at the major leagues. Donny was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tuskegee, Alabama growing up, then Union Springs Presbyterian Church in Union Springs, Alabama and later was a member at Frasier Memorial United Methodist Church in Montgomery. He had a deep Christian faith. Don joined Mr. Ed Cameron at The Fair Company department store in Union Springs, Alabama. He partnered in a retail clothing store and a dry cleaner in Ft. Walton, Florida. Returning to Montgomery, he worked for the Alabama State Motor Pool and later as Program Director for the Industries Division of the Department of Corrections. Funeral services will be at Frazer United Methodist Church followed by a graveside service at Tuskegee City Cemetary.
