Manitowoc - Arnold H. Junk, age 86, a resident of rural Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday evening, March 21, 2018 at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc.

Arnold was born on June 3, 1931 on the home farm in the town of Manitowoc Rapids. He was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Haarmann Junk. Arnie attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1950. In 1957 he entered the United States Army and served overseas in Germany. Arnie was honorably discharged in 1959 and returned home and started working with his father on the family farm. On January 1, 1963 Arnie purchased the home farm and ran the farm until he retired in 1998. After retiring he became employed part time with Equity Livestock in Reedsville and also was employed part time with Holiday House as supervisor at the Maribel Rest Stop until 2015. On July 30, 1960 he married Helen M. Rhein at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. Arnie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88. He was an avid sheepshead player, enjoyed meeting friends at the Covered Wagon Restaurant, and still had a passion for farming and driving tractor.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Helen; four daughters: Diane (Alan) Backhaus, Manitowoc; Judy (Mark) Rahmlow, Mishicot; Janet (Dave) Gahagan, Cato; JoAnn (Jim) Wagner, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren: Rachel Backhaus and special friend, Clay Kautzer; Julie Backhaus; Jena Rahmlow and special friend, Dalton Hurda; Jarrod Rahmlow and special friend, Kendall Brey; Trent Rahmlow; Kyra Rahmlow; Kaden Rahmlow; Alyssa (Nick) Jandrin; two cousins that were raised with Arnie as siblings: Earl (Jeanette) Junk, Manitowoc; Ethelyn Bolle, Whitelaw; one sister-in-law: Mary (Donald) Reif, Francis Creek; nieces, nephews, other relatives to include Marie and Roger Hurda along with many friends to include Dave and Michelle Endries. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Anna Junk; six brothers: Ralph, Eugene, Jerome, Joe, Ronald, and George; three sisters: his twin sister, Arlene, Mildred, and Adeline; and one brother-in-law: Eddie Rhein.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum.
