Rita was born on June 22, 1931 in Whitelaw to the late Louis and Frances Augustine Schamburek. On August 25, 1951, Rita married Philip J. Junk at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Philip preceded her in death on January 23, 1985. Rita had been employed at Roorbach Flowers, Santa’s Best, United Laundries, Montgomery Ward, Aluminum Goods, and Big Lots. She loved spending her time gardening and bird watching. Rita was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include Rita’s seven children: Thomas Junk and special friend Patti, Phoenix, AZ; Grace (Peter) Ording, Manitowoc; Stanley (Theresa) Junk, Two Rivers; Gloria (William) Koeppel, Maribel; Robert (Robin) Junk, Henderson, N.C.; John (Sue) Junk, Manitowoc; and Steve (Kerry) Junk, Shawano; 14 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; special friend and dance partner: Gary Sittman; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rita was preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Frances Schamburek; husband: Philip; brother: “Stoney” Joe; and six sisters: Helen, Marie, Agnes, Esther, Gertrude, and Beatrice.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Pleier will officiate with entombment taking place at Knollwood Mausoleum. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5 p.m. Following the service, a dinner will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
