Mr. Ness was born May 30, 1930 in Felton, a son of the late H. L. and Anna (Kilgore) Ness.
A union laborer for Local 1167, he was a former member of the Wago Club, Liberty Club, Eagle's Club, 19th and 12th Ward.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, William E. Ness of York; five daughters, Norma Wertz and Shirley McCoy, both of Lancaster, Debra Razoda and Betty Toomey, both of York, and Linda Mummert of Indiana, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ada Hershey of York, Ruth Porterfield of Hershey, Kathrine Baker of Wrightsville and Alverta Beck of Lancaster; a brother, Clyde Ness of Red Lion; and several nieces and nephews.
Viewings will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Burg Funeral Home, 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion.
A funeral service will follow on Thursday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Tim M. Brose, pastor of Eastside Bible Church in Wrightsville, officiating. Burial will be in Blymire's United Church of Christ Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer
