MRS. HANDL, 80, DIES AT HOME; WAS LONG ILL
Resident of Manitowoc For 70 Years; Funeral Will Be Held Thursday
Mrs. Dora Handl, 80, a resident for more than 70 years, died
Monday afternoon at the home, 1816 Washington street. She had
been ill for the past two years.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the Pfeffer
funeral home and at 9 a.m. from the St. Boniface church. Interment
will be at Calvary cemetery.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Dora Sund, was born in
Germany in 1855. When a girl the family came to America. Her
mother became ill on the ocean voyage and died aboard ship before
reaching America. The family proceeded to Manitowoc.
The deceased was married to Andrew Handl in this city 63 years ago.
He died 21 years ago.
Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Joseph Denk, Mrs. John Schroeder,
and Miss Emma Handl, city, Mrs. F. H. Williams, Milwaukee and Mrs.
George Slimmer, Manitowoc Rapids; five sons, Louis, William, Joseph
and Michael, city, and Frank, Michigan; 24 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Pfeffer funeral home and may be viewed there until the hour of the funeral.
