Evelyn "Evie" Rusch, age 97, of New Holstein, died on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at her home.

She was born in Reedsville, daughter of the late John and Mabel (Junker) Treichel. On May 26, 1934, she married Helmuth Rusch at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2004. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2004. Evie farmed with her husband in the Town of Rockland, Manitowoc County until 1972 when they moved to New Holstein. She was then employed at Tecumseh from 1972 until her retirement. Following retirement, she and Helmuth did a lot of traveling with friends and relatives. Evie was a lifelong member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville, singing in the choir for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to polka music, and was an avid Brewers fan, watching many games on TV. Her faith and her family was very important to her, and Evie especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters and one son: Germaine (Phil) Yakel of Grafton, Susan Goede of New Holstein, and Wallace "Bud" (Faye) Rusch of Menasha; ten grandchildren: Julie Hoffmann of Cedarburg, Mark (Lori) Yakel of Grafton, Debrah (Bill) Fordice of Dubuque, IA, David (Jane) Rusch of St. David, Canada, Amy (John) Shenot of Fort Collins, CO, Kevin (Jennie) Rusch of Menasha, Melissa (Anthony) Jordan of Menasha, Kerri Grosenick-Roberts of Higginsville, MS, Barbara (Gary) Dotzauer of Fredonia, and Sherri (Mary) Grosenick-Borick of Kalamazoo, MI; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister: LaVerne Bialik of Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law: Gwen Olp of Manitowoc and LaVerne Treichel of Reedsville; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Evie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Helmuth, one son-in-law: Raymond Goede, one grandson-in-law: Dennis Hoffmann, two sisters and four brothers-in-law: Mildred (Michael) Cummings, Edwin Bialek, Karl Olp, and Lucille (Louis) Wickee; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Raymond (Mildred) Treichel, Norbert Treichel, Gilbert (Alverta) Englebrecht, and Lavida (Waldemar) Behnke.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Timothy Nommensen with burial in Westside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home, 15 7th Street in Reedsville on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Saturday at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Evie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she will be truly missed.
