Mr. Lafferty was born October 5, 1874, near Grant and grew to manhood here. He was married to Minnie Belle Franks, December 27, 1894. Mrs. Lafferty died a number of years ago and he has resided in Chicago for the last 20 years.
Surviving are eight children, Mrs. Hester Fisher of Burlington, Iowa; Mrs. Ira Eggers, West Branch, Iowa; Mrs. Mable Sands, Neola, Iowa; Mrs. Zola Crawford, Bushnell, Illinois; Clifford Lafferty, Des Moines; Fred Lafferty, Columbus Junction, Iow; Mrs. Hazel Woodruff and Mrs. Opal Walsh, Chicago, five sisters, Mrs. Anna Roberts of Los Angeles, Mrs. Belle Artlip, Elliott, Mrs. Phoebe Hoyt, of Cumberland, Mrs. Lucinda Miner and Mrs. Ella Miner of Rockford, Illinois. There are three brothers, Colonel Lafferty of Perry, Iowa and Cash and Henry Lafferty whose whereabouts is unknown. There are also thirty-five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Grant church Thursday afternoon, with Rev. Orley White in charge. Miss Helen Blackburn, Mrs. Albert Bender, Ed Brown, and Fred Davis sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Earl Spiker. Pall bearers wee Roscoe Howard, and James Kenworthy, George Courcier, Guy Embree and Fay Corbin. Burial was in the Grant Cemetery.
