Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Melvin Loynd Blood, at the age of seventy-eight, passed away peacefully at his home in Holladay following a long illness.

Mel was born June 8, 1912 in Kaysville, the son of Ernest Colemere and Harriet Elizabeth Lloyd Blood.

Married Margaret Clawson Williams on September 23, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He grew up in Kaysville, graduated from Davis High, then came to Salt Lake City, where he attended and graduated from the LDS Business College.

He was an accountant and worked for more than forty-five years for the Flint and Wells Distributing companies.

Active High Priest in the Holiday North Stake of the LDS Church, he held many positions of service to his God and his fellow man over the years.

Mel enjoyed his garden and his yard was one of the finest on the block each summer. He also loved his family dearly.

His passing, even though his suffering has ended, leaves our hearts saddened.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons and three daughters, David W. (wife, Rosann) Blood of Texas, Catherine E. Crawford of Salt Lake City, Claudia (husband, Dennis) Van Gerven of Colorado, Mark W. (wife, Sara) Blood of West Virginia, and Barbara (husband, Brad) Thornley of Salt Lake City; seventeen grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, two brothers, Phillip (wife, Mary) Blood of Clearfield and Louis (wife, Hazel) Blood of Kaysville; and a sister, Beatrice Everett, of Bountiful. Preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton and Spencer, and a sister, Leone.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 10, 1990 at 12:00 p.m. in the Valley View Eleventh Ward Chapel, 4032 South 2300 East, with Bishop James Dunn officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, December 9, 1990 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 South 2300 East, and prior to the services at the church on Monday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m.
