Obituary - Clearfield -- Philip Claud Blood, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend has returned home to his Heavenly Father. He passed away June 21, 2005 at the loving home of his son Michael in Layton, Utah. He was 95.

Philip was born January 21, 1910 in Kaysville, Utah, son of Harriet and Ernest Blood. He attended Davis High School and in 1930 he served an LDS mission to the Southern States. After his mission he did much genealogy and temple work. It was at the Salt Lake Temple that he met his eternal sweetheart, Mary Umpleby. They were married in 1936 and have been married for over 69 years.

Philip was employed at Hill Air Force Base as a tool and gauge specialist and retired from there in 1973. He loved growing beautiful vegetable gardens which he lovingly shared with all. He enjoyed singing in choirs and quartets. He drew his family together by playing many hours of various games.

He was most widely known however as a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many positions of responsibility including Bishopric counselor, President of the 70's, ward clerk, temple officiator and ever faithful home teacher.

His children are Luanna (Jay) Atwood, Patricia (deceased), Michael (Kay), Kathleen (Hassan, deceased) Manafi, William (Joanne), Robert (Dina) Blood, Barbara (Robert) Cook, Derena (Robert) Bell, Laurel (Kent) Cudaback, 31 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Our love for him cannot be expressed in mortal tongue. He has always been a towering yet quiet strength to his children and all those who knew him. He will always be remembered for the love, faithfulness, and royal treatment of his beloved companion. They were known as the sweetheart couple and there love for each other is an example to us all.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the learfield 3rd Ward, 350 N. Vine. Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
