Gena was born on October 1st 1925 in Mineville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Martin Philip and Victoria (Wilk) Huchro.
Gena was a graduate of Mineville High School and received her RN BS degree from Bellevue Hospital in New York City, N.Y. She continued her nursing career working as an Army Cadet at Fort Lewis, WA during World War II.
Upon returning to Mineville, N.Y., she married her childhood neighbor; George William Haley Sr. on October 25th 1953. They celebrated 55 years together and had four children; three sons and one daughter. He predeceased her on June 17th 2008.
She was employed by the Republic Steel Corporation as a Nurse at the Mineville Hospital until it’s closing.
Gena then worked as Director of Nursing at Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y. until her retirement.
Gena and her Husband George were devout Catholics always leading by example to instill moral values in their four children and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law; Jack Jenkinson, one son; Michael Stephen Haley in 1979, three brothers; Paul M. Huchro in 1937, John Frank Huchro Sr. in 1992, and Frank P. Huchro Sr. in 2015, and two sisters; Mary A. (Huchro) Simpson in 2005 and Anna M. (Huchro) Anderson in 2010.
