Samuel W Baker, 60 Brownstown R1, died Monday afternoon at his home near Goss Mill after a year’s illness. He had been seriously ill for four months. Mr. Baker, a farmer and for the past seven years a district forester, was a member of Ray’s Church. He had lived in Jackson County since infancy and was widely known throughout this area. He was born in Missouri January 23, 1891 a son of the late Morgan and Elustus Robertson Baker. On February 15, 1914 near Clearspring he married Nellie Borders, who survives. Other survivors include five daughters; Mrs. Flossie Maynard of Mattoon, Ill; Mrs. Hazel Barrett, of Columbus; Mrs. Ines Loyd, of Cortland; Mrs. Violet Emmons, of Seymour, and Miss Joyce Baker, at home; two sons, Albert William Baker, of Bedford, and Edgar William Baker, Seymour R1; one brother, Shirley Baker, of Bedford, and four sisters; Mrs. Jossie Morrison, of Norman; Mrs. Effie Henderson, Brownstown R1, and Mrs. Ida Emmons, of Norman. Funeral services will be conducted from the Clearspring Church Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial in Clearspring Cemetery. Friends may call at the Winklepleck Funeral Home at Brownstown until 12 o’clock noon Wednesday and after that at the family home west of Ratcliff Grove.
