Nellie A. Baker, 80 formerly of Clearspring and Seymour, died at 11:50 p.m. Monday, Jan 8, at the Jackson Park Convalescent Center, Seymour. A lifelong local resident, she was a member of the Seymour Wesleyan Church and was retired from the G.C. Murphy Company, Seymour. She was born Feb 9, 1898, in Clearspring to the late Thomas J. and Mary E Phillips Borders. On Feb. 12, 1914, she was married in Jackson County to Samuel William Baker, who died in 1951. Survivors include two sons; Albert Baker of Elizabethtown and Edger Baker of Seymour Rt.1; five daughters; Mrs. George (Flossie) Maynard of Muncie, Mrs. Paul (Hazel) Barrett of Westport, Mrs. Inez Loyd of Seymour, Mrs. Orval (Violet) Emmons of Phoenix, Ariz., and Frank (Joyce) Burton of Columbus; 24 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren. One daughter, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan 12, from the Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, with the Rev. Don Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearspring Cemetery.
