Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be from 12:30 - 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
Olivia is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Dan Henning of La Mesa, Calif., Judith Hennig of Seattle, Wash., Margaret Ann and Craig Hoffman of Central Point, Ore.; son Vic Weyland of Hudson, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther Pape, Margaret Grube, both of Manitowoc, Wis., Irmgard Breiling of New Ulm, Cornelia Rude of Wauwatosa, Wis., Louise and Walter Otterstatter of Fon du Lac, Wis., and Renata and Eugene Kitzerow of Manitowoc, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Reverend Victor J. Weyland on Dec. 21, 1981; brothers, Waldemar Pape, Gerhardt Pape, Adolph Pape and Theodore Pape; a sister, Clara Pape; and a great-grandson, Bartholomew Welling.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1915, in Manitowoc, Wis., to Arthur F. and Clara (Toepel) Pape. She graduated from the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester in 1938. She was employed as a surgical nurse at Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., from 1938 - 1940. On Aug. 30, 1940, she married Reverend Victor J. Weyland at the First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc, Wis.
After marriage they lived in Bonduel and Collins, Wis. They moved to Mobridge, S.D. in 1957. She was Director of Nursing at the Mobridge Community Hospital from 1959 - 1967 and then was transferred to the Mobridge Medical Clinic and worked there from 1967 - 1979. She and her husband moved to New Ulm in 1979. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. The family prefers memorials be given to M.V.L. or donors choice in lieu of flowers.
