She was born on July 21, 1913, in Manitowoc, a daughter of Arthur F. and Clara Toepel Pape.
Esther was baptized and confirmed at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
Esther taught for a total of 51 years. She spent the first part of her career at St. John and St. James Lutheran School, Reedsville, and then finished at Zion Lutheran School, South Milwaukee.
She is survived by three sisters: Louise (Walter) Otterstatter of Fond du Lac, Renata Kitzerow of Manitowoc, and Cornelia Rude of Wauwatosa; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers: Waldemar, Gerhardt, Adolph, Theodore, and Arthur; and six sisters: Adela, Clara, Esther, Margaret, Olivia, and Irmgard.
