She attended the Academy and Illinois Female College. She attended Michigan Female Seminary at Kalamazoo, Michigan.
She was preparing to go to Brazil. While in Michigan, she became ill with Typhoid fever. She was brought home and cared for.
Services were held at the second Portuguese church.
Margaret's sister, Mrs. Mary E. Lenington Waddell died on November 2, 1893 at Sao Paulo, Brazil.
