Steven D. Tess, age 50, 2641 N. 13 St., Sheboygan, passed away of natural causes unexpectedly Monday, July 24, 2006 at his home.

Steven was born October 24, 1955 in Two Rivers, the oldest son of Donald and Lucille (Bohman) Tess. He was the cherished husband of Barbara Tess and the beloved father of Daniel, Andrew, and Michael.

Steve was a graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School, Class of 1974 and attended UW-Manitowoc, UW-Green Bay, and Lakeland College. He was a chess master who proudly led his Two Rivers team to third place in the National Championship in New York in 1974.

On June 18, 1977, Steve was united in Holy Matrimony to Barbara Geigel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Two Rivers. The proudest moments of Steve's life were the births of his three sons. Steve was the finest father and husband a family could hope for. He spent many sleepless nights walking the floor with cranky babies while singing his entire repertoire of lullabies. Steve was an excellent ballroom dancer and spent many happy times dancing with Barb in the living room.

He coached youth football, baseball, and basketball and was always there with a pat on the back and words of encouragement for his team. Steve recently had the pleasure of welcoming two beautiful daughters-in-law into the family and shared in planning their weddings.

Steve was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Parish and the Parish Council, and co-chaired some of the St. Dominic Fall Festivals.

For fourteen years, Steve was employed at Kohler Co. and prior to that time he was self-employed.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Steve is survived by his sons, Andrew (Angela) Tess of Madison and Michael (Alyssa) Tess of Milwaukee; parents Donald and Lucille Tess of Two Rivers; brothers, Tom (Jan) Tess, Tim (Caroline) Tess, Wayne (Jean) Tess; sisters, Joan (Craig) Schultz, Kathy (Mark) Berge, Karen (Jeff) Hendries, Jane (Steve) Stoltenow, and Donna Stanzel (fiance Mike Weier); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Bernice Geigel; brothers-in-law, Joe (Lynn) Geigel and John (Jeanne) Geigel; his Godchildren, Cheri Koch, Samantha Schultz, Anastasia Geigel and Ian Hendries, and many other special nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his much-loved son, Daniel and dear sister, Kristy.
