Sarah was born 25 JUN 1835 in Switzerland County, Indiana to Nancy (Forwood) and Samuel Forwood (also listed as Farwood in some records). She grew up in Switzerland County, Indiana. She met John Hoose Robbins at church. She later worked as hired help for John's parents. She told her grandchildren she worked 12 - 14 hours a day for 50 cents a day. (Not just for the Robbins).

She married John Hoose Robbins on 30 OCT 1856 in Switzerland County, IN.

In 1890 the family moved to LaPorte County, IN. They lived on a farm owned by Fred Bennett and John worked as a logger. While cutting wood one day, a sawed piece rolled onto Sarah and broke her hip. She was taken care of by her daughter, Ida, while John stayed home alone.

She and John ended up in separate cemeteries because he got pneumonia and died while they were away from home. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Demaree Cemetery about 2 miles north of Brooksburg, Jefferson County, Indiana. His grave is located at the foot of the hill on the south side.

Sarah died 6 JUN 1908 om LaPorte County, IN. She had a stroke while she was eating breakfast and died. Originally there was a Robbins monument on her grave that included John's name. It has subsequently been replaced by one that has MOTHER 1835 - 1908 engraved under her name.

Their children were:

Hiram Nelson Robbins (Filinbina Elizabeth Miller)
Ida Lucinda Robbins (Ferdinand Jones)
Emily Rosa Robbins (George Hudson)
Nancy Clarenda Robbins (John Wilson Glenn) (John Adam Wringer)
James Oliver Robbins (Charlotte Isabel Glenn)
Stella Robbins (Joseph Berry Glenn)
