AILIFF, Henry
Fort Gay, WV, Oct 8--Henry Ailiff, 60, machinist for the N & W Railway, died Sunday evening at his home in Fort Gay. He had been in failing health for several years and critically ill for a month. Funeral rites were conducted in the Fort Gay Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 2 with the pastor, Rev. Albert Milum, officiating. Interment was made in the Bartram cemetery near Fort Gay under the direction of the Curtright Funeral Home. Born at Echo, Wayne county, WV, Mr. Ailiff was a son of the late Thomas and Fannie Smith Ailiff. He began working for the N & W at 15 and for many years was a machinist in the railway's shops at Williamson. He moved to Fort Gay in 1919. He had been a member of the Baptist Church for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Adna Taylor Ailiff; 2 daughters, Mrs. Charles Smith, Kenova, WV, Mrs. Earl May, Huntington, WV, 4 sons, Ray and Thomas Ailiff, at home, William Ailiff, serving in the Army glider corps at Fort Bragg, NC and Frank Ailiff, serving with the Army at Fort Sill, OK; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Ida Jarrell and Miss Laura Ailiff of Kenova, WV.
