Frank James Ailiff, 78, of Fort Gay, died Sunday, No 3, at J. J. Jordan Geriatric Center. Mr. Ailiff was born Sep 12, 1918, at Williamson, WV, a son of the late Henry and Ada Taylor Ailiff. He came to Fort Gay at the age of 3 and remained a resident most of his life. He was a retired Postmaster at Fort Gay; and a 60 year member of Fort Gay First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and choir director. He also served as superintendent of Sunday School, Youth Director, Youth Sunday School teacher and church treasurer, and was a World War II Army veteran. The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Nov 5 at First Baptist Church, Fort Gay by the Rev. Herman Wellman. Burial was in Fort Gay Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, June May Ailiff, a son, Daniel (Jonet) Ailiff of Fallsburg; 2 daughters, Diana A. (Jack) Thompson of Louisa and Frances A. (Robert) Atkins of Grayson, a brother, William (Susie) Ailiff of Fort Gay; a special niece he raised, Sherry (Robert) Copley of Fort gay; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
