F. R. (Frank) Lovenburg, son of John and Marie Lovenburg was born in Belle Plaine, Ia., June 2, 1863 and departed his life at the home of his son, Lawrence Lovenburg in Ogallala, Neb., March 21, 1956 at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 19 days.

He spent his boyhood days on the farm with his parents and in the year of 1887 he came west to Nebraska making the trip with a team and covered wagon. He located in Perkins county Nebraska and located a preamption homestead and proved up on it. His first house was a sod house erected on the homestead. During the early days of homesteading and owing to the unfavorable crop condition he made several changes engaging in the implement business and traveling as a salesman on the road but always retaining his homestead property in Perkins county where in later years he built fine improvements and became a successful farmer and rancher.

Mr. Lovenburg was first married to Miss Anthonie Stransky in the year of 1887 and to this union two children were born, Edward and William both having passed away. Mrs. Lovenburg passed away in 1891. On January 3, 1897 he was united in marriage to Miss Lucy Louise Sibl. To this union seven children were born. Two having preceded him in death, leaving those surviving Lawrence and Louis both of Ogallala, Neb., Charles of Lewellen, Neb., Mrs. Sylvia Sailor of Flint, Mich., and Mrs. Violet Nomer of Scotts Mills, Ore. Mrs. Lovenburg passed away March 19, 1937. Mr. Lovenburg was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and contributed much to the early advancement of the community in which he lived for so many years.

He was a member of the Mason Lodge and the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Madrid, Neb. He leaves to mourn his passing beside his five children, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren as well as more distant relatives and many old time friends and neighbors of the early days both in Perkin and Keith counties.

Funeral services were held from the Bracken Memorial Chapel in Ogallala Saturday March 24, at 2 p.m. the Rev. Russell Crocker officiating.
