OLIVER H. RAUTMANN

Oliver H. Rautmann, age 90, a resident of Woodland Manor in Sheboygan Falls the past six months and formerly of Howards Grove, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Woodland Manor.

He was born May 9, 1912, in the town of Herman, a son of the late Louis and Erna (Horneck) Rautmann.

Lauretta Damrow and Oliver Rautmann were married on Oct. 8, 1932, at the home of her parents. The couple farmed on the Rautmann farm until moving to Howards Grove in 1972.

Oliver continued to work at the Millersville Box Company and with local contractor Walter Schneider until 1978. He was a life member of St. Johns United Church of Christ of Schwartzwald where he had been very active and dedicated, also the men’s brotherhood of the church. Lauretta and Oliver celebrated 65 years of life together before she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 1998.

Surviving are four daughters; Shirley (Norman) Spindler of Sturgeon Bay, Karen (Glenn) Spindler and Darlene (David) Conrad, both of Howards Grove and Susan (William) Dicke of Sheboygan Falls; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving are two brothers, Elroy Rautmann of Sheboygan and Allen (Doris) Rautmann of Ripon; two sisters, Lavilla Lutze of Sheboygan and Marie Fessler of School Hill; two brothers-in-law, Wallner Damrow of Plymouth and Marlin Doebert of Glenbeulah; and one-sister-in-law, Margaret (Robert) Goedeke of Howards Grove.

A funeral service will be conducted for Oliver on Wednesday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Schwartzwald with the Rev. Rebecca A. Johnson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Zimmer Funeral Home 117 N. Wisconsin Drive, Howards Grove, on Tuesday, March 11 from 4 until 8 p.m. and that the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

A memorial fund has been established in the name of Oliver H. Rautmann.

The family of Oliver Rautmann wishes to extend their thanks to the Home Hospice of St. Nicholas Hospital and the wonderful staff of Woodland Manor for the loving care their father received as a resident.
