Lois DeBlieux Compton, age 96, of Benton passed away on Sunday October 25, 2015. She was born July 24, 1919 in Columbia , Louisiana to Ozet and Honore Louis DeBlieux. Lois is predeceased by her parents; husband, Everett Compton; one granddaughter; four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by daughter, Anita (Bruce) Evans; daughter Martha (Arlon) Boatman; son, Everett (Joyce) Compton; daughter, Pat Hunter; sone Ron (Doris) Compton; daughter, Mary (Gary) Terry; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-seven great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
Lois grew up in Bastrop, La before moving to Dermott, Arkansas where she raised her six children. She moved to Benton in 1999 to be closer to her children. Lois was employed by Dermott Cleaners for many years before leaving to work at Dermott State Bank until she retired. She came out of retirement to work in the offices of Dr. H.W. Thomas until her second retirement. Lois was an accompolished seamstress who created prom dresses, band uniforms, cheerleading outfits, and dance costumes for her own children and numerous southeast Arkansas residents. She was also an excellent cook. Anyone lucky enough to sit at her table for a Sunday dinner and homemade rolls was in for a treat. Lois was a lifelong Catholic and devoted to her church. She was an active member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in Dermott. In Benton she was a member of Our Lady of Fatima.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27 at Ashby Funeral Home with the rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday October 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGhee with burial at Dermott Cemetery.
