Emma E. Appel, 81, formerly of rural Manville and 1309 S. Bloomington St., died at 9:30 p.m. Monday in Yorktown, Ind., where she had resided for the past year.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Winterrowd Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Lostant.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Born March 24, 1904, in Catlin, Ill., she was the daughter of William and Lola (Wolfe) Jones. She married John Appel in Ransom. He died in 1969.

Surviving are two sons, LaVerne Appel of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert Appel of Bloomington; one daughter, Beulah (Mrs. William) McCully, of Danville, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Jones of Howell, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

A member of First Baptist Church, Mrs. Appel resided in rural Manville before moving to Streator in 1957.
