William F. Green, age 84, a resident of St. Mary's Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc, died Sunday morning, December 13, 2015 at the home. He was born on April 24, 1931 in Manitowoc, son of the late William and Bertha (Christianson) Green. Bill attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School and then enlisted in the United States Army in 1948. Bill served during the Korean Conflict and received his honorable discharge in 1952. On May 21, 1955 he married the former Mary Stadler at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. After his service to our country, Bill returned to Manitowoc and began his employment with the C.Reiss Coal Company sailing on the Great Lakes. Bill then began his employment with the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, retiring in 1983 after 18 years of service. Bill was a member of the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 serving as a Past Commander, a member of the Shoto Conservation Club and was also a Eucharist Minister for St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Survivors include his wife: Mary Green, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Gail & Walter Soulier, Ashland, WI; one son: Daniel J. (Boone) Green, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Victoria (Philip) Schmidt, Greenville, WI, Brenda (Rodger) Whiteside, Dana Green, Meagan Green, all of Manitowoc; five great grandchildren: Taylor, Logan, Mark, Alex & Samantha Schmidt; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Alice & Eugene Hilke, Manitowoc, Elizabeth Carmody, Parrish, FL; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Wayne & Marilyn Stadler, Two Rivers, Joseph Stadler, Thompson, GA; one sister-in-law: Dorothy Gauthier, Sturgeon Bay; and a brother-in-law: Anthony Kubis, Manitowoc. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by six brothers: Calvin, Harold, Robert, Gordon, Clarence & James; two sisters: Bertha Cerkas and Marge Tetzlaff; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Joseph & Emily Stadler.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo (1121 North 14th Street), Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Michael Warden with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
