George A. Gessert, age 84, of Watertown, died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Clearview Long Term Care & Rehabilitation Center in Juneau.

Visitation for George will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Reeseville on Monday, May 24, 2010 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 3:00 PM. Pastor Paul Vander Galien will officiate. Burial will be at Grove Prairie Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the cemetery service and will be held at the Reeseville Community Center.

George August Gessert was born on June 15, 1925 in Plymouth, Wisconsin to the late Edwin and Verona (Holtzman) Gessert. On November 25, 1961, he was united in marriage with Virginia Gibson in Plymouth. George did many things throughout his life but he spent the better part of 30 years farming in the Town of Clyman. In his retirement, George enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.

Survivors include his four children, Christie (Robert) Fiedler, Jr. of Watertown, Gregory Gessert of Reeseville, Debbie (Daniel) Schmidt of Watertown, and Lori (Michael) Fenner of Watertown; three grandchildren, Bryan (Jessica) Fiedler, Bradley Fenner, and Natalie Fenner, all of Watertown; a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Fiedler; a brother, Edwin; four sisters, Louise, Lucille, Helen, and Verona; other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant son, and two brothers, Jerome and Frederick, and two sisters, Margaret and Margie.
