He was born on May 15, 1949 in Plymouth, a son of the late Edwin and Verona Holzmann Gessert.
On April 20, 1984 he married Donna Oehmke in Sheboygan. The couple resided in Sheboygan and for the past eleven years in Plymouth.
Freddie worked at the Kohler Company for 35 years, retiring in 2004. He briefly owned Freddie's Bar in Sheboygan.
Fred loved classic cars and spent many evenings driving the countryside of Plymouth in his 1970 Leman's convertible.
He enjoyed watching and playing all sports and watching his beloved Badgers, Packers and Brewers. He was always willing to share his opinion on all sports.
Survivors include: his wife, Donna of Plymouth; One daughter, Shannon (Bruce) Blunt of Brookfield, WI; One step-daughter, Donna (Joe) Ybanez of Sheboygan; Two step-sons, Andrew Gatford of Milwaukee, Eryn (Barbie) Gatford of Sheboygan; Four step-grandchildren, Two step-great-grandchildren, Two brothers, George Gessert of Watertown, Edwin (Nancy) Gessert of Mishicot, Four sisters, Louise Braatz of North Fond du Lac, Lucille (Louie) Rosenthal of Elkhart Lake, Helen (Robert) Abhold of Plymouth, Verona (Jim) Keller of Plymouth; One brother-in-law, Mike (Mary) Klein of Howards Grove.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Jerome Gessert and two sisters: Margaret Smith and Margie Bruggink and one brother-in-law: Harold Braatz.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday (Nov. 2nd) at 6:00 PM at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. James Hoppert, pastor of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.
