LAURA BASKEN

Notes from Melnik
Miss Laura (sic) Basken, aged 15, was relieved of earthly suffering last week, April 30, in Chicago where she had gone to seek medical aid. Besides her heart stricken parents she also leaves behind two sisters and two brothers to mourn her untimely death.
She was laid to rest in the Presbyterian cemetery at this place, Rev. F.T. Bastle performing the last sad rites. Her casket was beautifully decorated with wreaths of flowers, while the funeral cortege was as large as any ever seen here. Laura was an estimable young lady of a bright, happy disposition, always looking on the bright side of life. She was loved by all who knew her and her parents have our sympathy in their sad bereavement.
