Janet E. Seifert, 78, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at St. Luke Medical Center after a very courageous battle with cancer.

Janet was born April 29, 1923, at home in the town of Mosel to Louis and Hilda (Schreiber) Bender.

She attended Champion Grade School and graduated from Central High School, class of 1941. She then attended Sheboygan Business College for one year.

On Oct. 26, 1946, Janet married Raymond J. Seifert. Mr. Seifert preceded her in death in 1962.

Janet was later married to Eugene Edler and together they ran Edler's Bar and Hall in the early 1970s.

Janet was employed at Modern Auto Parts, Badger Freightways, and for the last 34 years until the present has worked in the Foundry Office at Kohler Co. as an office production analyst.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and UAW Local 833.

Janet enjoyed playing bingo and going out to eat with family and friends.

Survivors include a daugther, Jelane K. Seifert, and a son, Ronald E. Seifert, both of Sheboygan; a brother, Donald (Nancy) Bender of Howards Grove; a sister, Joyce (James) Grau of Southern Pines, N.C.; three grandchildren; Amy Seifert, Stacey (Robert) Taubenheim of Sheboygan; step-children: Gary Edler, JoAnn Frary, Steven Edler, Donna Kaat, Marlene Malzahn, Richard Edler and Delores Edler; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Raymond, Janet was preceded in death by her son, Gerald, and daughter, Diane.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. The Rev. Gregory S. Whelton, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, will officiate.

A time of visitation and support will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

A memorial fund has been established in Janet's name.

Janet will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She will always be thought of as a special "Grammy" to her granddaughter Tiffany.
