GELLES – Elizabeth R. “Betty,” formerly of Johnstown, died Jan. 2, 2016. Born in Johnstown, daughter of John and Goldie (Pavina) Konchan.
Preceded in death by parents; husband, Paul Gelles; brother, John Konchan; and sisters, Donna Whitla and Connie Charles.
Survived by son, Paul S. Gelles, and wife, Dr. Joyce (Webb), Plum, Pa.; and grandsons, Matthew Gelles, Philadelphia; and Robert Gelles, Chicago. Sister of Margaret Ryba, and husband, John; Mary, widow of Lee “Sissy” Fineley; and Anthony Konchan, and wife, Carol, all of Johnstown. Also survived by sister-in-law, Margaret Konchan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a true example to her family and friends. She had a helping hand to all that needed her. She enjoyed spending time traveling with her husband and family. She now enjoys peace with her heavenly Father.
Member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Conemaugh, where funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Robert F. Oravetz. Committal, Grandview Mausoleum. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where Parastas will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.
