Willis E. Blanchard, for about 40 years a resident of Oneonta, but who for the past two years had lived at Laurens and Mt. Upton, spending considerable time with his sons and daughter, died Friday night at 11:20 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. D. [Lucy Edith] Black, Emmons road, where he had been spending a few months. Death was due to a complication of diseases, he having been in failing health for the past three months.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the home of his son, Carl C. Blanchard, West Oneonta. Rev. Dr. Edson O. Farley of the First Baptist Church will officiate and interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery.

Willis E. Blanchard was born at Jordan, August 25, 1854, the son of James and Maryette Copp. When he was seven years old, he was adopted by Herman Blanchard and until manhood he was a member of that household at Mexico.

In 1876 he was united in marriage with Frances E Hall of Adams, and to them eight children were born.

They lived at Jordan for several years but 40 years ago came to Oneonta, which had really been their home since although they had lived for short periods during the past two years at Laurens and Mt. Vision, and with their children.

Mr Blanchard was employed as a fireman by the D. & H. company for ten years and later served as a motorman on the Southern New York railway for about 23 years.

Surviving are his wife; four sons, Allen C. Blanchard of Schenectady, Edward H. Blanchard of Oneonta, Harold W. Blanchard of Laurens, and Carl C. Blanchard of West Oneonta; one daughter, Mrs. A. D. Black of Emmons road; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Edward Copp of Syracuse; and a number of other relatives. To them the sympathy of wide circles of friends will be extended.
