Emeline was born in Goffstown NH, the daughter of Deacon Benjamin Poor and Martha McCurdy, whose grandfather John was born in 1718 in Ballymoney, Antrim, Northern Ireland. She married Robert C. Dow in Goffstown on Feb. 25, 1847.
The family remained in Goffstown for several years, then moved to Manchester before 1860. When her husband returned from the Civil War in 1862 the family moved to Derry, then about 1867 to Lawrence MA, but by 1880 had returned to Manchester. Their children include:

Frank Johnson Dow (1850 NH-1878 KS)
Martha Ida (Dow) Web (1852 NH- 1887 VT)
