Furman E. Taylor, 89, of Abbeville, husband of the late Elizabeth 'Louany' Stone Taylor, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Hospice House in Greenwood.

He was born in Oconee County to the late William L. and Ethel Hall Taylor.

Mr. Taylor proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Milliken & Co. – Sharon Plant with over 40 years of service. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Milliken Hall of Fame, Textile Baseball, Abbeville Civil Defense, Long Cane Cemetery Association and New Hope Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Harold Taylor and Morris Taylor and three sisters, Cordelia Schoen, Ophelia Pitts, and Kathleen Haddon.

Mr. Taylor is survived by two daughters, Peggy T. Pendley and her husband Tommy of Greenwood and Debbie T. Wilson and her husband Dale of Abbeville; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Grace Davis of Greenwood.

The family will receive friends 1:30pm – 3:00pm on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:30pm in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Pat Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family is at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Dale Wilson.
