Son of the late Luther A. and Ruth Ellis Zirschky, he was born March 19, 1914, near Huggins. He died Feb. 11,1988, of an apparent heart attack while driving on Highway MM north of Dunn.

He graduated from Houston High school in 1937. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army Air Force. After training as an aircraft mechanic, he joined the 97th Bomber Squadron. He served overseas for two and one half years, and was awarded seven Bronze Stars for action in the European and African/Middle Eastern Theater of Operations. He was released from active duty as a corporal in August of 1945.

He was a farmer in the Graff community and milked and raised beef cattle as long as his health permitted.

He was a past officer of the Texas County Soils and Crops Conference.
