He died Tuesday at Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco.
Mr. Ray was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by three brothers, Trice Ray of Union City, Tenn., Donnie Ray of Fulton and Neal Ray of Cayce; and a sister, Marcella Atkinson of Richland, Mo.
He was preceded in death by a sister. His parents were Rube and Ernie May Ray.
