Winter, William "Bill"

William "Bill" Winter passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at the age of 90. The family will be receiving friends Friday, June 24, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor William Shupe officiating. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, WI with Pastor Joel Brassfield officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home, Bartlesville, OK. William Kenneth Winter was born April 26, 1926 in Manitowoc, WI to Walter and Anna (Zastrow) Winter. He attended elementary school at First German Evangelical Lutheran and graduated in 1944 from Lincoln High School. Bill proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army serving overseas in the ETO 44th Divison, 71st Infantry Regiment. He attended the University of Wisconsin receiving a BS in Physics before attending Kansas State University receiving his PhD in Physics in 1956. Bill retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. as a petroleum engineer with 30 years of dedicated service. In 1963, Bill married Norma Jean Bittle in Bartlesville and they were married over 53 years before his passing. Bill was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for over 60 years where he held many offices, enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir and he spent many years making Braille Bibles for overseas missions. Bill is survived by his wife Norma of the family home in Bartlesville and two daughters; Dr. Billie Kae Winter and husband Joseph Casciari of Vermont, and Nicki Lynn Winter and husband Tony LeClerc of Minnesota. He was blessed with two grandchildren; Anna and William Casciari. Also surviving are: sisters, Elaine Paschke, Marilyn Baryenbruch, sister-in-law, Myrtis Winter, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Winter.
