Betty Bowden passed away Tuesday evening at Big Sky Senior Living. She was born in Butte September 23, 1919 to George and Alice (O'Leary) Powers.

She attended Butte schools including Girl's Central and the Butte Business College. She worked a short time for the USDA in Bozeman, returning to Butte to marry Harrison C. Bowden in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on June 5, 1941. She worked for the Draft Board in Butte, but was mostly a stay at home mother until Harrison's death on August 17, 1970.

Following his passing she returned to the work force as a stenographer, secretary and finally as a teachers aid at East Middle School.
Betty was a member of St. Ann's Parish, the Daughters of Isabella, enjoyed playing cards with her card club and was active in organizing class reunions for both her and Harrison's graduating classes.

Besides her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by two infant brothers, George and William Powers, her brother Joe Powers, sister, Alice Delaney, sister-in-law, Lola Morgan and Monsignor Tony Brown.

She is survived by her son, Bill Bowden and Mary Driscoll, daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Dean DeMott and Harriet and Russ Tallmadge, grandchildren: Mike Petersen, Lisa and Jason Miller , Harrison and Hayley Dye, John Dye, David and Christine Dye, Tony Dye, Dan and Lidia Petersen, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is her sister, Mary Kay Pierce and numerous nieces and nephews.
