Mary Kay Mazzolini-Pearce passed away just before midnight, Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, surrounded by her children at her home in Butte. She was born in Butte, Thursday, August 9, 1928, one of four children to George and Alice (Leary) Powers. 


Mary Kay attended local schools, graduated from Butte High School and attended St. James School for Radiology and earned her degree in radiology from Seranac Lake University in New York. 


Mary Kay married Edward Mazzolini in Butte and together they had four children. They later divorced.


She married Jack L. Pearce in November of 2000, and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2007. 


Mary Kay was a devout Catholic, active in the Red Hat Society, Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was an avid golfer. She golfed every day possible and stayed fit walking and in earlier years, hiking and cross-country skiing with her daughter Dione. She loved to travel be it near or across the world and true to her Irish heritage, loved celebrating St. Patrick's Day. 


She worked as an x-ray technician for St. James Hospital until her marriage and later went to work for J & J Floral. She worked for Dr. Morris for many years as well as for Dr. Konecny. She also worked for Butte Central High School. 


Besides her husband Jack, Mary Kay is preceded in death by her son Mike Mazzolini, her sisters, Betty Bowden and Alice Delaney and her brother, Joseph "Bud" Powers. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Kim Mazzolini of Anchorage, Alaska, Craig and Nora Mazzolini of Great Falls, and daughter and daughter-in-law, Dione Mazzolini and Stacy Muldoon of Vashon, Washington. Grandchildren include Nick and Colby Mazzolini, Drew Mazzolini, Marissa Mazzolini, A.J. Mazzolini and Darah Fogarty and Dan Mazzolini. Great-grandchildren include Lucca and Noelle Mazzolini. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews all of whom held a very special place in her heart. 


Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 10th at 11 o'clock in St. Patrick Catholic Church. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials in her memory may be made to the Butte Catholic Education Fund or Our Lady of the Rockies.
